Meet the author
Hi, I'm Sabrina — I've spent over a decade helping kids build math fact confidence.
I'm a credentialed teacher, an educational therapist, and a mom of three (including a brand-new baby). Supernova Kids is everything I learned in a decade of tutoring, poured into a workbook your family can actually enjoy.

My story
I'm Sabrina Soper — my educational background spans graduating from UCLA, receiving a teaching credential in elementary education, and then attending a specialized program for educational therapy. For over a decade, tutoring has been my life's work, including owning The Learning Space, a tutoring center in Lafayette, California.
Year after year, the same pattern showed up at my center: almost every kid who came in for math help was deficient in math facts. Not because they couldn't learn them — because no one had ever taught them directly. Watching bright, capable kids lose confidence over a fixable gap is what pushed me to write the workbook I wish those families had.
Why "Not Yet" changes everything
Reti the Yeti was born from a decade of teaching kids who struggled in traditional classrooms — and from Angela Duckworth's famous TED Talk on grit: the ability to keep going when something is hard predicts success more than raw talent. Her idea of "not yet" reframes failure — instead of wrong, it means keep going, you're almost there. That idea gave voice to something I'd always believed: kids need encouragement when they struggle just as much as when they succeed.
Years ago, I kept a stuffed yeti on my desk with a bandana that read "Not Yet!" Over time, he became Reti — here to help your child build the confidence to say "I am ready!"
That confidence starts with math facts. When kids can recall them instantly — the way they recall sight words — their brains are free to tackle harder problems. When basic facts eat up working memory instead, kids get overloaded and frustrated. This program comes from a decade of helping kids close that gap.
The book is designed to feel like a story, not a worksheet — a screen-free way to connect with your child and have fun while learning. The lessons are exactly what I'd teach in person, woven into an adventure led by our fearless guide, Reti the Yeti. ❄️
Why math facts matter
Math facts are being left out of many classrooms today, and fluency is one of the greatest predictors of confidence in math. On The Launchpad, I share what I've seen work for real families — no jargon, no guilt, just what fits at your kitchen table.
